      Worked examples

      Two adults, 3 nights from 15 October 2026, any hotel, ryokan, simple lodging or minpaku in osaka prefecture, ¥24,000 a night:¥1,200.

      • ¥12,000 per person per night (room charge per person per night, excluding meals and taxes) → ¥200 per person per night.
      • 2 guests × 3 nights.

      A family of two adults and two children aged 7 and 15, 12 nights, same accommodation:¥9,600.

      • ¥6,000 per person per night (room charge per person per night, excluding meals and taxes) → ¥200 per person per night.
      • 4 guests × 12 nights.

      • Stays under ¥5,000 per person per night.
      • School-trip students and their teachers or chaperones.
