      Worked examples

      Two adults, 3 nights from 15 October 2026, 4-star or 4-star superior hotel, historic centre, giudecca:€27.00.

      • Season: High season (1 February–31 December).
      • 2 guests at the full rate, 3 taxed nights.

      A family of two adults and two children aged 7 and 15, 12 nights, same accommodation:€56.00.

      • Only the first 5 nights are taxed (consecutive nights).
      • Season: High season (1 February–31 December).
      • 2 guests at the full rate, 1 at the reduced rate, 1 exempt, 5 taxed nights.

      Exemptions

      • Children under 10; young people aged 10 to 16 pay the reduced (50%) rate. The regulation says “between 10 and 16 years of age” without saying whether a 16-year-old is included: we apply the reduced rate up to and including age 16.
      • Residents of Venice, patients in rehabilitation and one carer per hospital patient, both parents of a sick person, coach drivers and one tour leader per 25 group members.

      Good to know

      • The tax is charged for at most 5 consecutive nights.
      • The Access Fee (€5 or €10 on certain days) is for day-trippers only: guests staying overnight in the municipality are exempt from it but must still register on the official portal.
      • Short-term lets (locazioni turistiche) follow a separate table based on the cadastral category of the flat: not covered by this calculator.

      Venice tourist tax: questions

      How much is the tourist tax in Venice?
      €0.50–€5.00 per person per night, charged per person and per night. For two adults staying three nights in a 4-star or 4-star superior hotel, historic centre, giudecca, that is €27.00.
      Do children pay the tourist tax in Venice?
      Children under 10 are exempt; those aged 10 to 16 pay half.
      Is there a maximum number of nights?
      At most 5 nights are taxed (consecutive nights).
