Worked examples
Two adults, 3 nights from 15 October 2026, 4-star or 4-star superior hotel (or equivalent):€10.80.
- €1.80 per person per night.
- 2 guests at the full rate, 3 taxed nights.
A family of two adults and two children aged 7 and 15, 12 nights, same accommodation:€25.20.
- Only the first 7 nights are taxed (per person, per continuous stay in the same establishment).
- €1.80 per person per night.
- 2 guests at the full rate, 2 exempt, 7 taxed nights.
Exemptions
- Children under 17.
- Stays caused by force majeure (as defined by regulation).
Good to know
- One regional rate applies everywhere in Catalonia outside Barcelona city: Girona and the Costa Brava (Lloret de Mar, Tossa, Roses, Cadaqués), Sitges, Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils and the Costa Daurada, the Pyrenees.
- The tax is charged per person and per night (or part of a night), for at most 7 nights in the same establishment.
- If you prepay a booking together with the tax, the rate in force on the booking date applies.
- Since 1 October 2026 seven towns add a municipal surcharge that this calculator does not include: Castelldefels, Esplugues, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, El Prat de Llobregat, Sabadell, Sant Cugat del Vallès and Sant Just Desvern (see the ATC table).
- A special rate (5-star €10, 4-star €7, others €5) applies to establishments inside a tourist recreation centre, in the areas where gambling is allowed.
